The inaugural Sustainable Luxury Awards are on the horizon, marking a celebration of chic pioneers in Latin America and beyond.
Organised by the Center for Study of Sustainable Luxury (CSSL) and the Authentic Luxury Network, the event will take place in Buenos Aires on 4 November 2011 with a host of sustainability experts, entrepreneurs, business leaders and ethically-minded celebrities.
The members of the jury include: Professor Jem Bendell (co-author of Deeper Luxury and a consultant in sustainable luxury), Dana Thomas (author of the New York Times bestseller Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster), María Eugenia Girón (former CEO of Carrera y Carrera and author of Inside Luxury), Renata Mutis Black (founder of Seven Bar Foundation), Ana Laura Torres (coordinator of the Sustainable Textile Center), Eduardo Escobedo (United Nations officer working on cosmetics and clothing for biodiversity conservation) and Summer Rayne Oakes (environmental model, author and entrepreneur).
Awards will be made for the best sustainable luxury: clothing or accessory company, beauty company, jewellery or watch company, tourism company including hotels, transportation company including cars, breakthrough/innovative company, and best researcher.
On the day before the Awards, Jem Bendell Dana Thomas, María Eugenia Girón will host an evening of insight into developments in sustainable luxury.
