Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden is inviting guests for a new afternoon tea as part of the Nurseries’ partnership with the Elephant Family charity. Proceeds are being donated to the charity’s Co-Existence campaign, which aims to raise funds for innovative programmes working to facilitate peaceful coexistence between humans and wildlife globally.
This philanthropic afternoon tea is served from 3pm to 5pm every Thursday to Sunday in the Petersham’s refined dining room, which draws influence from the Boglione family’s connections to Italy.
Additionally, you can enjoy the spring weather and the new a la carte menu, featuring the best seasonal British and Italian produce, al fresco on the terrace in a plant-filled oasis of calm in the heart of the city.
Over the past five years, a collective of artists in the jungles of Tamil Nadu in Southern India have recreated the real-life elephants they live alongside, using dried lantana camara – an invasive species of weed which chokes their forest habitat – as their prime material. Petersham Nurseries has sponsored a herd of Indian elephants and are displaying two of these impressive life-size installations in Richmond, with further impressive creations in Covent Garden, to draw awareness to the Co-Existence campaign. Everyone is welcome to view the elephants and donations can be made in all restaurants to help raise the charity funds.
The Elephant Family Afternoon Tea is priced at £55 per person, £10 of which will go to the Elephant Family. Reservations can be made at petershamnurseries.com or by e-mailing email@example.com.
