The Brands of Tomorrow

Walpole’s new Brands of Tomorrow for 2012 were recently unveiled – an eclectic mix of the British luxury industry’s finest new talent, ranging from childrenswear and accessories through to designer tents and bespoke boats. Lawfully Chic caught up with the brands at the British Luxury Press Day hosted by Walpole at Somerset House earlier this year, where the fashion world’s media gathered en masse.

Over 290 luxury lifestyle press from Conde Nast, Bloomberg, FT’s How to Spend It, High Life, Pomp, Evening Standard, ES Magazine, Stella, Spears, Mayfair magazine, The Times, Daily Mail and Hello! joined Lawfully Chic to walk through collections from the luxury brands. Around 30 companies were on display this year at Somerset House, including the Brands of Tomorrow, sponsored by Mishcon de Reya.

Walpole’s British Luxury Press Day

One of the new Brands of Tomorrow is Elvis & Kresse, a life-style accessories brand that re-engineers seemingly useless wastes to create stunning pieces. The raw material for their principal range is genuine decommissioned British fire brigade hoses, which – after a distinguished career fighting fires and saving lives – were otherwise destined for landfill. Half of the profits from Elvis & Kresse’s fire-hose line are donated to the Fire Fighters Charity.

Elvis & Kresse have been working with British wastes since 2005, and more than 10 waste streams are used to create their range of bags, belts and wallets. They are constantly searching for more materials to reclaim and have saved over 150 tonnes from landfill.

The other brands selected to take part in the Walpole Brands of Tomorrow programme 2012 are:

Aravore – an award-winning designer childrenswear brand that offers a unique range of high quality pieces with a contemporary-retro aesthetic.
Demarquette – maker of fine chocolates renowned for unique classically timeless collections with a contemporary penchant.
FieldCandy – a design led brand of tents, which inject colour, creativity and fun into the camping space.
Lily and Lionel – a luxury British accessories brand that specialises in iconic printed scarves.
Lucas Hugh – a uniquely high-end combination of leading-edge technical design and edgy style label of choice for the woman who likes to mix sport with design.
Patterson Boatworks – a company dedicated to the creation of stunning bespoke yachts, launches and superyacht tenders.
Vivien Sheriff – a multi-award winning, luxury headwear brand at the forefront of British headwear design.
