Sustainability Week

The EU’s official Sustainability Week may have finished back in June, but in a corner of London a private members’ club has taken up the mantle and is spreading the message.

Next week, from 18-22 November (Monday to Friday inclusive), The Hospital Club in Covent Garden will host informative and inspiring events covering different areas of sustainability, with a view to raising awareness. The programme is free to attend for both club members and the general public – an unusual step that demonstrates just how important the club considers sustainability issues to be.

Each day will focus on a specific theme, from ‘Oceans and Food’, through to ‘Media’, ‘Radical Transparency’, ‘The Consumption Dilemma’ and ‘Sustainability, Fashion and Sex.’ During the week you’ll get to hear from Jake Backus (Coca Cola), Tim Lindsay (D&AD), Dax Lovegrove (WWF), Peter Mather (BP Europe), Anna Hansen (The Modern Pantry), Naresh Ramchandani (Pentagram), Chris Arnold (Ethical Marketing) and many more.

Through efforts like Sustainability Week, the club brings community groups together to discuss and share how we can be more responsible global citizens and make the world a better place,” says Paul G. Allen, owner of The Hospital Club.

The Sustainable Business Partnership and Planet First have both been working with The Hospital Club to curate the programme. Guy Battle, founder of The Sustainable Business Partnership, said: “The aim of this week is to enliven the debate, include people beyond the norm and to create a manifesto of ideas with artists and media leading from the front.”

Dogwoof have partnered exclusively with the club to schedule a free members’ film each night exploring each day’s issue even further. Click here for a full schedule of events.
