Originally from Australia, this unique, sun safe, earth friendly swimwear label lands on our shores just in time for summer. Their bright and bold pieces are for children from 0-14 years old. If you’d rather not be pigeonholed into any one style, the mix and match aspect of their products, with everything from kaftans to hair scrunchies, allows for personal style and expression.
Anyone who has grappled with putting sun cream on a squirming four-year-old will be pleased to find many designs provide cover for those all-too-easily-burnt shoulders and arms. For example, there are a range of rashies (think waterproof t-shirt) for girls and boys in original designs using vibrant colours. The brand’s fresh patterns bring a joyful vitality, and promote adaptability by doubling up as daywear. They are designed for durability; perfect for an active lifestyle in the sun.
As well as shorts, costumes and bikinis, Olga Valentine sell hats, dresses, kaftans and kimonos. Their signature look says bright and busy. You will find confident, contrasting floral designs and jungle themes, as well as primary colours in classic party-look spots and stripes. Design-savvy kids will love the details, such as girls’ one-shoulder swimming costumes. With its noticeable quality and unique designs, this swimwear is sure to make an impact at any children’s swimming party.
Crucially, their sustainable swimwear is sun safe, with a UHF rating of 50+, which combats the harsh UVA and UVB rays. Their Italian-made fabrics have a buttery softness, with a high-quality fabric blend (78% recycled polyester and 22% elastane) that is twice as resistant to chlorine, fading and sun cream and oils, compared to regular fabrics. Kids will find the materials soft and breathable, designed for stretch and comfort.
Olga Valentine focuses on leaving the world “Better than we found it”, so they donate off-cuts of fabrics to the Bali Life Foundation. This organisation gives women in poverty the opportunity to make and sell handicrafts, with success stories of women and their children being kept safely off the streets. They insist on not harming the earth, so all their fabrics are made from recycled bottles and fishing nets, in a drive to help clean up our oceans.
Originally from Sydney, owner and designer Natasha Nowak has spent many years in Bali (where the prints and cuts are designed and printed), and her inspiration from this Indonesian island is evident in her use of vibrant, tropical designs.
Natasha is a mother of three water babies, and knows first-hand what kids and their parents want from children’s swimwear. She has a passion for art, design and fashion. Her parents and grandparents were in fashion and textiles. The company name comprises her two inspiring grandmothers, Olga and Valentine; these pioneering and courageous women influenced Natasha’s determination to create her own successful business.
