Fashion fans hanging around London this weekend should head to Regent Street for the Summer Streets Festival. Taking place over four consecutive Sundays, the festival’s themes include ‘Garden party’ on 6 July, ‘Love food’ on 13 July and ‘Magnum’s 25th birthday’ on 27 July. This Sunday, the focus is ‘Love Fashion’.
Not only will guests have the opportunity to get a fabulous makeover before strutting down the 100metre catwalk, but for seven hours only (11am-6pm) the V&A’s Fashion Pop Up at the Quadrant Arcade is holding a specially curated day of fashion activities. It’s a chance for visitors to take part in free fashion illustration workshops, as well as to browse and buy from a selection of fashion accessories, jewellery, prints, V&A books, stationery and other exclusive products, all inspired by the museum’s extensive fashion and textiles collection.
Sonnet Stanfill, the curator of the V&A’s current exhibition ‘The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014’, said: ” The V&A Fashion Pop-Up will have a fantastic range of fashion merchandise on offer, as well as an exciting programme of free fashion illustration workshops throughout the day. Visitors to Fashion Pop-Up will have the chance to find out more about our current ‘Italian Fashion’ and ‘Wedding Dresses’ exhibitions and we hope that it will inspire them to explore the Museum’s unique collections in the future.”
