It’s in the bag

With springtime just around the corner, we’re coming out of hibernation and it’s time to strut our stuff. That includes making sure we have a snazzy satchel, handbag or knapsack to carry about town – eco-friendly of course.

Enter (stage left, on the ethically-conscientious side) Missco Girl, a fun-loving urban label that blends catwalk fashions with feminine influences to create on-trend, functional handbags. This month the brand turns one, having launched in the UK in February 2012 after establishing a large client base in America and Canada. And to celebrate it is offering a new non-leather collection for Spring/Summer. Designs are eclectic, adorned with distinctive metal fittings, printed floral lining and inside pocket details all unique to Missco Girl.

“We are 100% non-animal, striving hard to offer the leather look that lots of people love but in the latest high grade synthetic material alternatives,” says Michael Duffy, UK representative for Missco Girl. “The materials we use abide by the standards set by the EU so no toxic chemicals are used and any waste is disposed of appropriately – unlike a lot of non-leather bags on the high street which are made out of PVC and have no guidelines as to their manufacture and disposal.”

All of Missco Girl’s bags are made in a factory that has been assessed and certified by BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), meaning there is no child labour, no hazardous working environment, no underpay and no long working hours.
