A week of chic for London fashion

A week of chic for London fashion

Ah, London Fashion Week. It rolls around more frequently than most of us upgrade our handbags. Make that a lot more frequently. Yet each season brings its own sense of excitement, and in the last few years London has once more become the place to be.

Preen by Thornton Bregazzi are returning to their hometown after six years of showing in New York, Philip Treacy is showing for the first time in ten years and Rag & Bone – a label started by Brit designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright which became a hit Stateside – will be holding an exclusive presentation in their impressive new Sloane Square flagship store.

Fashion East always blazes a trail with their selection of  hot young designers, and this season Claire Barrow is amongst them, her hand-painted leather jackets having caused quite a stir and also having caught the eye of Rihanna.

And then, of course, there’s the fashion-with-a-conscience side of things, with Estethica for its tenth season backing an array of handpicked, organic and, in a number of cases, Fair Trade designers with ethics. Among them this time are Charini who creates the most delicate and luxurious of lingerie using reclaimed lace and vintage silk, and the Schiaparelli-inspired, former costume designer Henrietta Ludgate whose often vibrant fabrics are all sourced from within the British Isles.

Whatever your taste or leaning, loiter around Somerset House, Freemason’s Hall in Covent Garden and other stylish spots during LFW and take it all in – you may even be immortalised by a snap-happy fashion blogger.
