It’s that time of the year again, when the fashion industry’s movers and shakers descend onto the streets of London in anticipation of next season’s hottest new trends. London Fashion Week kicked off last Friday, and if the vibrant collections are any indication, it is going to be quite a sexy spring. The spring/summer 2018 collections were bursting will floral prints, colorful patterns, and bold shades of coral, red, pink, and green. Ruffled textures, sultry sequins, and transparent fabrics were the predominant trends seen on every runway from Burberry to Christopher Kane.

In addition to London Fashion Week regulars like Victoria Beckham, Emilia Wickstead, Preen, and Erdem, two of the most prominent international fashion players to show in London this season were Emporio Armani and Tommy Hilfiger, marking a significant step in defining London as a truly global fashion hub. Both designers chose to forego the New York and Milan shows this year to participate in London.

More Burberry brilliance…

Italian fashion giant Giorgio Armani returned to London Fashion Week for the first time in 11 years, ending his hiatus to celebrate the opening of the label’s renovated flagship on London’s upscale Bond Street. Armani chose a unique location, Tobacco Dock in the outskirts of London, to stage his grand Emporio Armani show. The impressive production featured sportswear, cocktail dresses, and office attire synonymous with the brands elegant and of-the-moment-style.

A slew of edgy, up and coming designers gave the crowd-pulling big name shows a run for their money this year opting for presentations rather than catwalk shows to showcase their creative collections. Molly Goddard, Alice Archer, Duro Aluwo, Isa Arfen, and Alexander Lewis were just a few of the young names in emerging design talent dazzling editors with their unique and impeccably tailored pieces.

Everything from the shows to the fashions, through to the big industry names that came out in full force, made London Fashion Week 2017 a huge success, solidifying the city’s reputation as one of the leading fashion capitals of the world.
